How many guests can the venue accommodate?

The occupancy numbers have been determined by the Fire Marshall and must not be exceeded.

South Front Parlor: 14 people with tables & chairs             30 people with chairs only

North Front Parlor: 16 people with tables & chairs             34 people with chairs only

Dining Room: 11 people with tables & chairs             24 people with chairs only

Can we bring our own caterer?

You are free to bring your own food and refreshments, or hire the caterer you choose to provide food.

Can we serve Alcohol?

If alcohol will be served at your event, additional requirements apply.

Renters must:

  • Use a licensed alcohol server

  • Obtain Host Liquor Liability insurance

  • Provide proof of insurance showing the specific event date

  • Name the “Santiam Heritage Foundation and their respective officers, directors, agents, and volunteers as “additional insureds.”

  • Follow all applicable OLCC rules and regulations

As an alternative, you may choose to hire a caterer or alcohol service provider who can provide both the licensed server and the required insurance.

What restrictions on decorations are there?

Because the Brown House is a historic property, we ask renters and guests to take special care when decorating.

Not permitted

Please do not use:

Tape Tacks Staples Nails Any hanging material that may damage walls, woodwork, furnishings, or finishes

Special hangers are available for use in the parlors. Other non-damaging hanging methods may also be used with approval. We recommend the use of CommandTM hanging products.

Flowers and decorations

Floral arrangements should be prepared off-site and placed in containers that will not leak.

Open flames are not permitted, including candles and smoking. Battery-operated candles, lights, and similar decorative items are welcome.

The following may not be used inside the house or on the grounds:

Flower petals are permitted, but they must be fully cleaned up at the end of the event.

Are tables and chairs included? Serving Pieces? Easels?

These items are available for your use, at no additional cost, during your event at the Brown House Event Center:

47 chairs: 13 non-folding 34 folding

Tables:            6 - 4’ plastic             10 - 33 ½” square card tables 1 - 5’ (heavy) 5 - 6’ (1 heavy, 4 plastic)    1 - 7’ 10” plastic

Various tablecloths, silverware, plates, teacups with saucers, a few water glasses, several different sizes coffee makers, and a punchbowl set may also be available. Several easels, both small metal and large wood, also can be available, at no additional charge.

Is the Brown House ADA accessible?

Due to its Historic nature, parts of the house are not ADA accessible. Contact us for specific questions.

Is there parking nearby?

Parking is available along High Street adjacent to the property, with additional overflow parking nearby.
